It’s that time of year again for our annual Fall Clean Up Day on Saturday, December 3, 2016. The Streets Department and Wash West Civic met to discuss the special needs of our neighborhood. The Streets Department no longer has smaller trucks to navigate the narrow streets like Hutchinson, Latimer and Quince, so they are sending a crew out on Friday December 2 to pre-clean these streets. We are working with the neighbors to come out and work with the crews to help clear their streets of leaves and any debris. There were a few problem streets that were overlooked last year: Rodman between 12th and Broad and Juniper Street. We provided a very detailed map and made it very clear that these streets need to be swept as well. The other two streets: Rodman between 7th and 8th and Rodman between 11th and 12th will have “No Parking” allowed on both sides of these blocks. This will allow sweepers to clean the blocks effectively.
We will post No Parking signs from 7th to Broad and Rodman to Locust during the week prior to the clean up day. Flyers will be placed on cars. Cars can be moved by 8:00 pm on December 2 to the opposite side of the street unless otherwise posted. Cars that are not moved will be ticketed. After 3:00 pm cars must be moved back to the correct side of the street or they will be ticketed.
Leaf bags, rakes, brooms and shovels will be provided at Seger and Kahn Parks. The event begins at 8:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm. Whole Foods and Acme will be providing food and drinks for volunteers.
The drop off sites for leaves and bagged litter are: 13th & Rodman, Locust and Camac, 11th and Pine, 10th and Lombard, 9th and Clinton, 8th and Locust. No household trash allowed
Be sure to help other neighbors who can’t participate or attend to rental properties that need some special attention.
Special thanks to Whole Foods and Acme for providing generous gift cards for foods and drinks for all our volunteers. Let’s have a record turnout.
