TONIGHT! McCall School fundraiser

McCall Home and School Association has partnered with Chipotle at 12th & Walnut. All orders made on Wednesday June 1 between 4-8 pm will have a portion of the sale go to McCall. You MUST tell the cashier you are there for the fundraiser before payment. If ordering online, use the code: BG6VBJV

Trash Delayed this week

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, trash pick up in the neighborhood is delayed by a day. Help keep the neighborhood clean and do not put your trash out early.

Woof Walk Yappy Hour – Tomorrow

Our neighborhood animal rescue – Morris Animal Refuge – is always in need of donations of time, materials, or money. They are hosting a fundraiser tomorrow night June 2 from 6-8PM

Free Performance tomorrow night at 7:30 PM

The Philadelphia Orchestra is hosting a Pride Concert to celebrate the Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community. Information can be found here. At time of posting, there were no available tickets, but they encourage you to check back for updates. 

Pride Reimagined – SUNDAY June 5th

PHL Pride Collective has reimagined the LGBTQ+ Pride events in Philly. They have added a variety of experiences geared to a diverse set of audience groups. Find out more at their website here.

Community Gardens giving back

The South Street Community Garden has made their first donation of the season. Gardeners delivered over 11 pounds of cold-hardy produce to Ready, Willing and Able. Through a collaboration with PHS’s City Harvest program, volunteer gardeners around the City provide food to neighbors in need. Find out more about our neighborhood gardens on the Civic website.

Independence Library Events

Have you visited our neighborhood Free Library of Philadelphia? Independence Library is located on 7th between Chestnut and Market and has a variety of events to engage readers of all levels. The library also host to Barbara Gittings Collection. Find out what events are happening, and learn more about the collection’s namesake LGBTQ+ activist here. You can also find her on the mural outside the William Way Center (pic).

Free at-home COVID-19 tests

The United States Postal Service is offering each household free individual home COVID-19 tests. You can request 2 sets of 4 tests. Visit their website to order yours. Delivery takes 2-3 days.

Seger Park’s Woofstock

Happening every Tuesday from June to September from 5:30-7:30 PM. Join the Friends of Seger Dog Park for live music. Bring your dog and enjoy beers & bevies in the dog park. Or bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a family outing in the non-dog park side of the park. Ice cream and beer vendors will be on site.

It’s so easy to report graffiti, overflowing trash cans, potholes and more using the City’s free 311 app. No need to sit on the phone waiting. Snap a pic, add a note and upload with address. Visit the App Store and Google Play to download the app. The City has stepped up their response times and it’s a game changer! Help keep our community clean by reporting issues.

Want a free street tree?

The Wash West Tree Tenders want to help you add to our neighborhood tree canopy. We work with PHS to plant bare-root trees bi-annually and we are planning for the next planting now.
