COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

AND RESOURCES

Doggie Bag Pilot installed

The WSWCA has been working behind the scenes all summer to help get a pilot group of Wash West courtesy doggie clean up bag dispensers placed in the neighborhood! The first one just went up at Sartain Garden this weekend. Special thanks to Seger Dog Park for their partnership on this project! Please help keep our neighborhood clean and beautiful by cleaning up after your pets and responsibly disposing of pet waste inside a trash receptacle on the street or at your home.

Dementia Conversations

When someone shows signs of dementia, it’s time to talk. The Dementia Conversations program offers tips on how to have honest and caring conversations to address some of the most common issues. In person informational sessions are hosted at Whitman Library (outside the neighborhood) on Tuesday 8/23 from 3:30-4:30. But there’s lot of resources at this link to get you started.

School starts in a week?!

While the students, parents and teachers get ready for their new school year, the McCall HSA and Greening Committee are gearing up to make the school welcoming inside and out for our community.  Support teachers and students directly through wish list donations. Your support will have a big impact.

Wishlists for McCall School enrichment and classroom teachers can be found on the mccallschool.org website.

Neighborhood Community Gardens

We are fortunate to have three Community Gardens in our neighborhood. Unfortunately there are more people interested than there are plots. Our Greening Committee is working with the gardens to update the waitlists. Once that is finalized, we will post it to the website and include in the e-Post so folks can go see what their status is. At present, the typical waitlist runs 2+ years. So, sign up now!

Find out more about our neighborhood gardens on the Civic website.

Seger Park’s Woofstock

Happening every Tuesday through August from 5:30-7:30 PM. Join your neighbors for live music sponsored by Seger Dog Park. Bring your dog and enjoy beers & bevies in the dog park. Or bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a family outing in the non-dog park side of the park.

Independence Library Events

Have you visited our neighborhood Free Library of Philadelphia? Independence Library is located on 7th between Chestnut and Market and has a variety of events to engage readers of all levels.

Next week, join the Mutter Museum’s program about “Bone Detectives”. Find all of their events here.

Charles Santore Library is just outside of our neighborhood, but have a full program schedule. Check it out here.
