Annual Clean-Up – 12/03/22

TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Saturday, 12/3  from 8 AM to 1 PM

Streets marked in RED must have all cars REMOVED

  • Camac St. from Spruce to Pine
  • Locust St. from 9th to 10th
  • 12th St. from Spruce to South
  • 10th St. from Pine to South.

Streets marked in BLUE must park on the opposite side of street

WHEN? 

  • As early as Saturday, 12/3 at 5 AM
  • You must re-park your car between 1-2 PM 
  • Car Relocation and Ticketing will be enforced

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • It all happens with your help!
  • Pick up brooms, bags, rakes, and gloves at Seger Park
  • Sweep leaves from the sidewalk on to street, or bag leaves and bring to numbered intersections for pickup by Streets Department.
  • Street sweeping trucks come through the neighborhood, and small streets get leaf blowing.
  • Secure shredding, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Seger Park. Personal records only, not business or commercial. Courtesy of the Office of State Senator Nikil Saval.

Get a Free Street Tree

The Wash West Tree Tenders want to help you add to our tree canopy. We work with PHS to plant bare-root trees bi-annually and applications for the next planting are due now. 

Click here to read more and apply for your street tree! Spring 2023 applications close on 30 November. Sidewalk cut included. All you do is water.

Film Screening and Discussion: The Command Center to Bring Women Home

Wednesday, November 30, 2022 | 6:30 p.m.

Parkway Central Library – Montgomery Auditorium

A short hybrid documentary film that brings to life a re-imagining of what reentry could look like if it were designed by formerly incarcerated women. This event is free, however, please register at this link.

Shelter from the Cold

The cold can be dangerous, particularly for people experiencing homelessness.

Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration

December 01, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Philly bells are ringing, and we are decking the hall…City Hall! Kick off the winter holiday season with the 6abc presents The City of Philadelphia’s Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration. This festive evening will feature exciting entertainment and the lighting of our spectacular tree, strung with more than 4,000 lights at City Hall.

Photos with Santa & Grinch

Join Morris Animal Refuge on December 3rd (12-5PM) at the The Shops at Liberty Place for photos with the Grinch and Santa! Guests are invited to snap selfies with Santa Claus and our friendly Grinch. $10 fee will benefit Morris Animal Refuge. 

Bring the dog or kids in their holiday attire.

Artist Residency Winter- Spring 2023

Mural Arts Tacony LAB Community Arts Center is seeking artists to apply for an artist residency to take place Winter/Spring 2023, February to April 2023. Deadline 12/5.

The goal of this artist residency is to create new public art in the Tacony/Lower Northeast area while engaging the community in the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center.

Ice Skating close to home

Ice skating at Dilworth Park has already begun and beginning this Friday, you can ice skate at the BlueCross River Rink at Penn’s Landing too.

Check out this website to read about the Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park’s specials, and this one to read up on ice skating on the Delaware. Pro tip – if you have IBX insurance, you (and 3 guests) get free admission at the Blue Cross River Rink. They also are hiring.

Independence Library

Our neighborhood library is back on their normal schedule. Monday-Friday from 1-5PM. Check their website for their hours before heading over because staff coverage impacts hours. To get your holds on material pickup days, please call the library when you are outside, and have your library card or photo ID ready.
