Zoning Meeting next Tuesday 9/27

Every 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 PM, the Wash Square West Civic hosts zoning meetings to discuss projects happening in our community. 

Zoom link will be sent out next week and can always be found on our Calendar.



Historical Society of PA

Did you get to hear David Brigham speak at the WSWCA Board meeting last week? If so, you know that they have a lot of good information about our neighborhood and so much more. Join some of their upcoming events to learn even more.

Donate warm accessories

The Police 6th District Community Relations team is asking for donations of winter items – hats, gloves and warm socks. Collection will take place now until October 9th and will be distributed at Rodeph Shalom on 10/10. Dropoff location is 6th District HQ located at 400 N. Broad Street. Free Day at Discovery Center

Join the Discovery Center for a fun day of adventure on Saturday, October 1st. From 11 AM to 5 PM, attendees will be able to take on several adventurous elements at the Discovery Center site. Activities include a 266-foot zipline, a three-story indoor climbing wall, and a fleet of canoes on the historic Strawberry Mansion Reservoir, as well as bird walks and nature education with Audubon Mid-Atlantic, music, food trucks, facepainting, and special activities from community groups. The waitlist has been updated. Go check out the list here to see where you stand. Use your last 4 digits of your phone number to find your place.

Pilot Program – Sanitation Collection

Beginning this week, the Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability (OTIS) is piloting expanded hours for residential trash collection. Boundaries include our entire neighborhood. Trash trucks will begin pick up slightly later to avoid morning commuter delays. 

City Wide Clean up

To celebrate 15 years of Community Cleaning Partnerships, the City is hosting a Fall clean up on October 1 from 9-2. To participate, sign up your block at this website. 

Public Space Summit

Join the 3rd annual Public Space Summit! The Summit will gather and connect: Recreation Advisory Councils, Park and Library Friends groups from across Philadelphia. Groups will experience a day of inspirational, practical, and educational workshops and sessions.  All Free. Sign up here.

Center City District (CCD) Survey

Every year CCD surveys a diverse cross-section of people who work, live, shop, dine and visit the many attractions downtown to measure how successful their efforts are. Share your thoughts and enter to win $250 in restaurant gift cards. Complete the survey here.

The Wash West Tree Tenders want to help you add to our neighborhood tree canopy. We work with PHS to plant bare-root trees bi-annually and we are planning for the next planting now.
